ITEM 7034. OIL ON TULIPWOOD PORTRAIT OF YOUNG GIRL, painted by an unidentified but documented Western New York State artist. 1823 Palmyra, New York newspaper fragments act as shims between the eglomise mat and the tulipwood panel. See "Folk Art's Many Faces," page 175 for another example of the artist's work. Additional portraits by this artist can be found in the National Gallery of Art, the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center and the Wadsworth Athenaeum. Sight size is 6 3/8"W x 8 3/8"H.
